Think of your resume as a "brochure." As a job seeker, your resume is your sales brochure. A well-developed advertising brochure, or flyer captures your attention by giving only enough information to make you want to know more about a product, or service. A good brochure will stimulate your interest to: see it, try it, experience it, have it, own it, etc. Likewise, your resume should stimulate a prospective employer's interest to want to invite you to come in for a job-interview. In fact, this is the entire focus of the do-it-yourself (DIY) workbooks, we provide. Why many resumes fail to get interviews;
The #1 reason resumes fail Poor Organization, means formatting—call that appearance—it is the #1 reason for your resume's failure to get you a job-interview. Another major problem is weak wording, or worse yet, ONLY listing your "duties & responsibilities" for each job you describe on your resume. Not only is this very boring, BUT saddly IT IS actually the ONLY information most folks provide on their resumes. Even many resumes produced by so-called professional resume services fail because of these weaknesses. To insure that your resume captures the attention of a hiring manager, you need to use some "Achievement Statements" (also called Accomplishment Statements, Power Statements, or even Puff Statements). What is an "Achievement Statement?" "Achievement Statements" are a means of bragging about how good you are. Yes, you need to brag. Brag about things you have done, beyond duties. Brag about ideas you have had. Brag about concepts you have initiated, and so forth. You need to brag about your working personality, not just what your "duties & respopnsibilities" were, or are. In other words what did you gain—as a basic experience—apart from duties, that you could also do for the potential new boss. Who needs this help? Everyone Regardless of your age, background, experience, or education, public/government sector, or private sector, this resume guidance-applies to everyone. Likewise, inspite of your employment level/job-title, be it a Manager, or Executive, like the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), President, Vice President (VP), Human Resource Officer (HR), Director, Supervisor, Team Lead, Lead, or any other level of management, yes even all the way down the ladder—even to new, entry level personnel, virtually all of these positions have been assisted by the ResumeWinners, “You’re Hired” do-it-yourself (DIY) workbooks.
