Why Should I Use Cover-Letters?
Your Goal: Your goal should be to present the strongest possible impression that you are interested in THEIR needs. Regardless of your career orientation, or the type of job you are pursuing, always be THEM oriented. The Hiring Mangers Goal: Prospective employer's have no interest in your needs--untill--they know what you can do for them. After all, if getting a job your goal (?) you should want to use every "tool" available to capture a prospective employer's attention. Why? Because if you do NOT get an interview, you will NOT get a job. To help encouage a hiring manager to call you for an interview, Cover-Letters should be one of your "tools." Especially since a cover-letter can be used to note additional informaition (bullet-points) about experience you have had that could be of interest to the hiring manger—you hope to interwiew with.
